Civil Engineer (2003) by the National University of Colombia, Manizales and Doctor in Structural Analysis (2013) by the Technical University of Catalonia, UPC, Barcelona, Spain. Researcher at the International Centre of Numerical Methods in Engineering, CIMNE, Barcelona, Spain. Publications: 2 monographs, 3 chapters of book, 8 articles in journals indexed in the ISI Web of Knowledge and 16 articles in proceedings of congresses. Involved in different projects on disaster risk and risk management funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) such as “System of Indicators of Disaster Risk and Risk Management”, “Comprehensive Approach to Probabilistic Risk Assessment (CAPRA)”, and “Catastrophic Risk Profiles of Countries”. Collaboration in projects funded by the World Bank in the framework of the Vulnerability Reduction Program of Colombia and in CAPRA. Involved in the FP7 European Commission project “Methods for Improvement of Vulnerability Assessment in Europe (MOVE)”. Collaboration in the projects Habitat 2010 and COPASRE Seismic Risk Evaluation founded by the Government of Spain. Awarded with the research grants ProVention (Consortium programme of GFDRR) and ECOPOLIS (International Development Research Center IDRC of Canada).
