Doctor in Civil Engineering by the Technical University of Catalonia, Spain, 1988; Doctor “Honoris-Causa” by the University of Salta, Argentina, 2007; he followed Advanced Structural Analysis Studies at the Rome University, Italy, in 1983; Civil Engineering degree by the National University of Salta, Argentina, 1979.
He teaches the following courses at the UPC: "Strength of Materials and Structures", in Civil Engineering, Geologic Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering Schools; "Fracture Mechanics" in the Master of Numerical Methods in Engineering; "Composite Materials" and "Non-linear Dynamics" in the PhD Program in Structural Engineering.
Visiting Professor at the Civil Engineering Laboratory of the National University of Tucumán Argentina (1991-2001); at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Salta, Argentina (since 2004), and at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the State University of California at Berkeley (1998, 2005-2006).
